Gaining some traction ….

H.R. 1384, by Rep. Tim Walz, D-Minn. (and 30 original House cosponsors), and S. 743, by Senators John Boozman, R-Ark., and Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., would recognize Guard and Reserve retirees who served honorably for a minimum of 20 years as veterans.  The currently law defines “veterans” as servicemen and women who have served on active duty.  This legislation would amend this definition and allow these Guard and Reserve retirees to be recognized as veterans.   Due to the fact that no additional benefits beyond the title of veteran would be extended to these retirees, there is no cost associated with this legislation.
