Gov. Mark Dayton gave the oath of office to the new Adjutant General of the Minnesota National Guard, Maj. Gen. Jon A. Jensen, Saturday afternoon, 4 November.
The ceremony coincided with the retirement of Maj. Gen. Richard Nash, who led the national guard in the state for the last seven years.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to stand before you as the 31st Adjutant General of the Minnesota National Guard,” Jensen told a large crowd at the armory in St. Paul after he took the oath.
Jensen previously served as Nash’s chief of staff and as Commanding General of the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division. During his military service, he was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq and assisted in natural disaster areas.
