During the first session of the 115th Congress, Senator Hatch (R-UT) introduced S. 1086 which aims to remove the prohibition on TRICARE eligibility for members of the Selected Reserve of a reserve component of the Armed Forces who are enrolled or eligible to enroll in the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). In February, Representatives Kelly (R-MS) and Rosen (D-NV) introduced a House companion bill, H.R. 5121.
Background:
The EANGUS National Office staff have long advocated for eligible federal employees to gain access to TRS regardless of their employment status. During the 2017 and 2018 Legislation Workshops, EANGUS members stormed Capitol Hill to advocate for the expansion of this important benefit. A copy of the EANGUS point paper can be found here.
Take Action:
The EANGUS National Office requests that members please take a few minutes out of your day to message your delegation in Washington, D.C. to become a co-sponsor of H.R. 5121 and S. 1086, and support the bill should it come to the floor.
