It’s important to stay on top of your health care but it is also important to be engaged and informed on your health benefit plan! We’ve created tips to help you manage your TRICARE benefits and protect yourself and your family.

1. Never pay for services up front when visiting a TRICARE Network Provider*. You can find out if the provider is a Network Provider by using the Find a Provider link on UHCMilitaryWest.com.

2. Want to know if it’s covered? Use this helpful tool to find out which services are covered by TRICARE. Go to http://www.tricare.mil/CoveredServices/IsItCovered and search by keyword. Examples of services not covered by TRICARE include:

• Massage
• Athletic training
• Cosmetic procedures
• Acupuncture

3. Keep your DEERS record up to date. When your life changes, remember to update your personal information in DEERS. This way you can avoid unnecessary impacts to your health benefits or costs for services you or your dependents may have been entitled to. Examples of life changing events:

• Marriage
• Divorce
• Birth of a child
• Relocation

4. Review all your Explanation of Benefits forms. Verify treatment dates and provider names to be sure they are correct.
Report any errors or inconsistencies immediately. Reports can be made online or by phone:

• Click on Report Fraud, Waste & Abuse from UHCMilitaryWest.com
• Call (888) 899-5071 to report your concerns to a customer service representative
• Report healthcare fraud directly to TRICARE by completing the Fraud and Abuse Report submission form online at Health.mil.

*For TRICARE Prime Retirees and their family members, copays still apply for some services. Visit www.TRICARE.mil/costs for more information. DEERS
